    Hey all!

Since it’s been a year and a half since this group started, maybe we could restart it.

I studying with Yorkville University and am starting my practicum in less than a month at a practice in Yaletown at Stewart & Associates Counselling & Coaching Inc. (it’s a mouthful ;). Is anyone else starting or in the midst of their practicum?

    I’d love to chat!

Maybe say where your practicum is, and what you’re looking forward to or have learned most.

    Sound good?

I’ll start: I’m excited to finally get started working with real people and being able to consistently ‘practice’ and refine. I am nervous, but now mostly excited.

    Hi Laura,

Thank you for sharing about your upcoming practicum in Yaletown.

I am starting practicum in August over in Victoria. I will be at two sites, one specializing in substance use and addictions and the other working with children and adolescents. At this point, I am looking also forward to working with people and writing fewer papers for school!

I am curious about what type(s) of counselling theories and client populations you are currently interested in working with.

    Kindly,

    Alyssa

    Hi Laura and Alyssa!

I’m also studying at Yorkville, but I’ve only just begun (Sept. 2024 cohort), so it will be a little while before I’m at my practicum site (Spring 2026). I’m hoping to work virtually and/or in Richmond, BC. I tentatively have a site that I would still need to apply for but they are very interested in working with me, and another practicum that is confirmed and lined up subject to YU approval for my supervisor and site.

I’m excited to connect more, and learn from everyone! 🙂

    Helen
