Hi Joanna, This is something my colleagues and I at Okanagan College have looked into quite extensively, and even still we have struggled to find firm answers. Due to the risks involved, we have made the decision to limit our counselling services to only students who are currently residing in BC.
That said, there’s a brief article about counselling outside of BC in the Winter 2021 edition of Insights magazine (p. 7). They delineate Low Risk and High Risk situations, and one of the low risk ones is “BC-based RCCs providing remote counselling to BC clients who are temporarily in a jurisdiction outside of BC. For example, if a client is on vacation or temporarily outside BC/Canada.” That would seem to apply to the situation you’re mentioning.
