In Person Connections
Posted by Shannon Husk on April 19, 2020 at 11:22 amHello Everyone,
As a counsellor in private practice it would be wonderful to connect with other private practice therapists in this region. Please message me here if you are interested in doing that? I also thought this would be a great place to share local resources. My speciality is internet addictions and gaming disorder if anyone is looking for resources.

Hello @ShannonHusk & @JanetteSperber I just wanted to send a quick note let you know that you can connect within this site as well by searching on the Members page, and then connecting (to be able to send messages)

Hi Shannon!
We’ve already chatted a few times but I thought I’d put my name out there for other counsellors who would like to connect 馃檪 I am just starting out my private practice and have been a school counsellor and crisis intervention counsellor for a total of 8 years.I provide video and telecommunication counselling to youth and families but focus primarily on what caregivers can do to better support their struggling teens.
Feel free to reach out if you want to connect!

Hi Shannon and Mary!
What a great idea! Here’s a blurb on me and what services I provide:
I have been a therapist since 1998 and in private practice for 18 years. I moved to Victoria from the Comox Valley just over four years ago (I had a private practise there for almost 13 years) and opened my practice in the Cook St. Village area. I am very interested in connecting with other therapists in private practice to support each other in this work which can be very isolating, as well as to cross-refer. Please feel free to call me at 778-265-6190 or email me at: esther@estherkane.com. I’d love to hear from you!
Here are my areas of specialty:
Women ages 19+ who struggle with any of the following:
路 disordered eating and body image
路 anxiety/depression
路 addictions
路 family/relationship difficulties
路 abuse (present-day and historical)
路 fertility issues/perimenopause/menopause
路 grief and loss
路 significant life changes

Hello everyone,
I just came across this group! I just launched my private practice in Victoria (Saanich actually) about 3 months ago so I’m still quite new to all this. I would love to be able to connect with others in our region. I agree with Esther, private practice can be isolating and especially in these current times. Maybe someday we can all meet in person! 馃檪

Hello everyone!!
I know this thread started some time ago but I am wondering if anyone would like to (or have already) start an online (video?) peer group chat. Looks like there was some interest here! I am fairly new to PP and I’d really like to connect with other members. Any takers?

Hi Colleen,
There seems to be a lot of steps to get to the point of finding this discussion, compared to the ease of facebook! I think this group might actually happen, if you could find a way to get an accessible group video meeting set up, then maybe take a poll (doodle, or?) of available times.
I will go ahead & put out my preferences right now… weekend afternoons.Hope to “meet” you soon 馃檪

Hi everyone, I’m very much interested in connecting. I’m new to Victoria and looking to connect with my peers. I’ve been in the mental health field for a while and finally became a part of the BCACC this year and hope to start more private practice work.

Hello everyone, did anyone end up starting this peer group online? If not email me at shannon.husk@telus.net and I am happy to get it started!
-
Hi Shannon! I am sorry to only be seeing this discussion now. I am eager to connect with peers and colleagues too…private practice can be very isolating. I love what I do, it would be lovely to make more connections and friendships. My email is jessica@inbloomvictoria.ca if you are still interested in connecting.
