Hi everyone. Thank you for the discussion about direct billing insurance companies – it’s something I’m considering. In the meantime, I’m wondering if there exists a list of insurance companies that cover our services as RCCs (knowing, of course, that the $ amount per year will vary depending on the package). I’m assuming no such list exists due to too many variables.

I would love to find out, and/or create a document like this. Perhaps we could collaborate on something like this as a resource for the community?

    Thanks, Jessica

I know at least Pacific Blue Cross does. For my husband’s package at Pacific Blue Cross, only $170 is covered for each visit.

I am planing to gradually shift to solo practise and would like to know more about direct billing and procedures to get there too. Would love to hear more if you have more info!

    Hi all 🙂

Extended health coverage is unique to each client and depends on the plan their employer has chosen. Their plan may or may not include counselling and the amounts can vary. I’ve always encouraged clients to check who their provider covers before they commit to starting, for liability reasons. In cases that a client is self employed their chosen benefit plan and/or their accountant is a good recommendation for them to confirm with as they may have extended health paid direct to the provider through their company vs through an extended health company. A general list of extended health companies that accept RCC’S would be a great resource for our knowledge as clinicians.
