FNHA Rates

am curious to know why FNHA pays Social workers at a rate equivalent to registered psychologists ($150 )) and pays RCC s at a substantially lower rate ($90) for counselling services. I’m confused as to why social workers are considered to be better qualified counsellors than RCCs. The recent changes being made by FNHA , to my knowledge, are not addressing this discrepancy, although they are increasing the paperwork involved in working with First Nations clients.

I have also discussed with fellow RCC Colleagues how the remuneration paid by FNHA to counsellors in other provinces is significantly greater than the $90 paid to counsellors in BC.

Are any other RCCs discouraged by this disparaging insult to BCACC Members?

I am equally confused by this. At least with CVAP there was an option to ask for extra pay from the client to cover the amount and they were willing to finally increase their pay. Furthermore now FNHA will not accept counsellors with less than 5 years of experience. most of us with 10 years experience + are not interested in working at this rate.

I would suggest that petitioning FNHA and perhaps refusing to offer services for this rate is important. it is tiresome seeing Social Workers receiving more funding for their services.
