Coaching as a separate business?

Hello fellow clinicians! I’m an RCC who has recently started offering coaching (a separate business) after taking a program called ‘therapist to coach accelerator’. The program was American so there are some differences in terms of how they operate their businesses etc there. Just wondering if anyone on this forum does coaching as well and if you offer it under your current business as a clinical counsellor as a separate modality (i.e on the same website but different pages) or separately (different biz/website etc). I am curious about the ethical and legal implications of having my coaching offering just be part of a my counselling biz but with separate contracts and distinctions for both. Thoughts?!

    Hi Ava,

I don’t do coaching personally, but just took a private practice business course with Constance Lynn Hummel (you can look up her personal website; and her course is called “The Business of Helping”) who is both an RCC and a coach. She has considered this thoroughly I’m sure, and she described her business setup briefly during the course. You could check out her website to see how she’s integrated the two in the same business. You could also consult with her if you want to go deeper. I think she said that her insurance includes coaching under the umbrella of counselling, so you could confirm that yours does the same.
