BCACC Weekend PD Workshop Offerings?

    I’ve been a BCACC member since 2018 & before COVID, I really
appreciated the option to do low-cost, high-quality 1 day PD workshops
on a variety of important counseling topics through BCACC (e.g., Intro
to Supporting with EDs). Since I’m still in the 1st few years of
practicing & am still paying off my student loans, it was extremely
helpful to be able to subsidize my learning process, as I haven’t been
able to afford many of the (often very expensive) trainings I would like
to do. Since COVID hit, it’s been great that BCACC has pivoted to
offer webinars instead of in-person workshops & launched this
eConnect with some video trainings, but the majority of these have only
been offered Mon-Fri, posted only a few weeks ahead of time & have
no (or very limited) actual interaction with other counsellors. I have
to work FT financially & don’t have the luxury to take a lot of time
off mid-week even if I could clear my schedule of clients with such
short notice. I also really miss the chance to actually network &
have a conversation with people during PD events, which was a huge
benefit to the previous workshops. Are others in a similar boat as
well? I would personally really appreciate having some weekend workshop
offerings again this year – either webinars or in-person requiring
    vaccination passports to attend.

Thank you for bringing this up. I will relay this idea to the committee that organizes continuing ed.

I talked to the person responsible for this, and she explained that we have online webinars that can be viewed anytime. These offerings will be expanded in the future. She also explained that many members wanted Mon-Fri offerings, particularly since many clinicians work weekends. Additionally, it was challenging to find presenters that would present on weekends. I hope this helps.
