Hi Fellow EMDR Therapists! I hope this finds you all well during this time. I am looking at purchasing some tactile BLS equipment (buzzer/tappers) and finding the options to be rather narrow! I am wondering if any of you have any suggestions/recommendations? Or perhaps know of platforms with therapists selling second hand ones? Many thanks in advanced! Warmly, Katherine

Hi Kat! I use the Neurotek pulsars and I love them. My only criticism of them is that in a year and a half, I’ve had to replace the whole unit once (under warranty) and just recently, had to replace the pulsars (not under warranty). Hope you’re well!

I’ve used TheraTappers for about 5 years now, and used them for at least 4 before changing the batteries for the first time! That said, after having clients provide their own BLAS online, I think I’ll do it that way forever, as they seem to know exactly the speed and pressure that is most useful to them.

What types of BLS has everybody been using for remote counselling? Knee tapping, butterfly hugs?

Yes to both – knee or thigh tapping and butterfly hugs. And after burying her face in her hands one day, a client continued with tapping on her cheeks and still does to this day. I usually lead them through a few, and then let them choose.
