ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
MARKETA NYKL, Ed, RCC
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Simon Fraser University. I have over 14 years of experience working with youth, adults, and families in a variety of therapeutic settings. Most of my professional life has been dedicated to individuals struggling with disordered eating and their loved ones. I am also a parent of three children, which I believe has made me a much more humble, compassionate, and empathetic human being. The quality of our lives is largely determined by the quality of our relationships — to ourselves, to our bodies, to others, to nature, and to the world around us. We need to belong and to be safely connected in order to thrive. I fundamentally believe that life does not have to hurt so much. Therapy can help us to heal and transform old emotional wounds, to learn new ways of coping and engaging in relationships, to increase our capacity for compassion, joy, and openness. I am dedicated to helping my clients to feel better, to go from surviving to thriving.
